Mid- Month Cards for Penny Black & More and Crafty Wedneday Challenges

Happy Wednesday! It's time for the Penny Black and More mid- month post today, and since it  happens to be Wednesday I am also sharing a new card for this month's Crafty Wednesday challenge. (You can find the linky tool at the end of this post.)

First up is my  card for Penny Black and More where our theme is Black and White plus one other color.

The animals are from the Penny Black stamp set Let's Go Wild. This comes at a single stamp, but I decided to cut all the animals apart, it's easier that way to get a good impression without getting edges of rubber stamped onto the card (I hate when that happens so I like my stamps to be trimmed very closely.) I started out by adding a circle mask, then inking with Wild Honey distress ink. Added more ink with a hand cut "hill" mask to create some interest on the background. The animals were stamped and embossed using Black Embossing Powder. I thought these sentiments were perfect for the image, the large sentiment is from Penny Black's set  Heartfelt,  "Follow your dreams" is an old wood mounted stamp by Stampabilities.

We have some fantastic prizes to give away at Penny Black and More (from Penny Black, Sizzix and Woodware Stamps) so hopefully you'll decide to join us this month for your chance to win! You can find all the details HERE

And if the Penny Black and More theme isn't for you, then maybe this month's Crafty Wednesday challenge is....Say it with flowers is the theme this month, and you still have a couple of weeks to join the challenge for a chance to win the stamp set below..

For my reminder card I used the stamp set: Happy Together once again. If you're interested in this stamp set, I have one set available brand new in my Etsy shop

I stamped the image on Copic Xpress it blending card using Memento Tuxedo Ink and colored using copic markers (V12, V15 and V17 - blooms; YG00, YG63 and YG67 - leaves. Btw. these markers are available as singles at Blick Art Materials with free shipping on orders of $35 or more.
The ink blots were done using a Stencil by Stampers Anonymous and Milled Lavender Ink. I used a retired word stamp by Whimsy Stamps on the bottom portion stamped with Stampin Up's retired Kiwi Kiss ink. The sentiment is from my favorite Birthday sentiment set Sprinkles and Smiles by Penny Black. I decided to do some paper piercing along the edges using Stampin Up's retired tool kit. Mounted onto some patterned paper and then used Neenah Solar White Linen card stock for the card base.

Allsorts Challenge 463 and New Papercrafters' Linky Party

Good morning and thanks so much for stopping by! It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts, and as always the linky for this week's Papercrafters' Linky Party has been posted at the end of this post, so do scroll down if you'd like to share a papercraft at the Linky Party this week.

It's my turn again this week to host the Allsorts challenge and fitting for the month of April I chose the theme of Spring Flowers or Showers. (Please note: this theme is for Allsorts challenge, not my Linky Party where it's always Anything Papercrafts!)

I did some inking and  masking for today's card on glossy card stock. A home made mask was used to create the hill, a mix of blue inks were used for the sky. The silhouette girl image is from a retired set by Stampin Up (Million Dollar Moments). I've heat embossed it using versamark ink and detail embossing powder. The plants around the image are all from the Penny Black set "Sprigs" and the sentiment is from the retired Stampin Up set Summer by the Sea.  The raindrops and little flowers are from the same set Million Dollar Moments by Stampin Up. I decided to add a few extra blooms, punched with Stampin Up's old flower trio punch using pink card stock.

We're giving away two wonderful stamps to one lucky winner this week at Allsorts, I hope you'll come play along with us for your chance to win. All challenge details can be found HERE on the Allsorts challenge blog

I am also entering my card to the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge & Papercrafters' Linky Party

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!
I am sharing my card for the new Allsorts challenge today, and I also posted the new linky tool for this week's Papercrafters' Linky Party. Remember, you may share any new or recently made papercraft at Papercrafters' Linky Party (anything papercrafts goes).

We do have a fun theme at Allsorts challenge, chosen by Kath - Be There or Be Square. This means that you have to make a square card and any image should be square, no circles or ovals. I hope you'll decide to play along at Allsorts with this fun theme for your chance to win a fabulous prize! We're giving away a fun set of dies this week.

I decided to make a clean and simple card for today, but I ended up with technical difficulties so it wasn't that simple after all :)

You may be wondering what my difficulties could have possibly been with this card...well, the painter's tape I wanted to use for masking kept tearing parts of the cards stock off as I removed it after inking up the square. I really wanted the yellow square to be larger, so I kept trying with the same tape but even though I tried to remove some of the sticky-ness before using it on my card, I still had the same problem. So after wasting time and 3 pieces of paper, I decided to use the wider tape, so the yellow square is smaller. I guess it still works, just now how I imagined it.

I used Mustard Seed Ink distress ink to ink up the square and stenciled a design onto the square before removing the masking tape. The flowers from the Penny Black set Blooming Garden were stamped on Xpress it blending card and copic markers were used for coloring, then I cut out the flowers using Cutterbee scissors. After removing the painter's tape I stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black set Sprinkles and Smiles using Versafine Onyx ink. Matted on a white Neenah Solar Crest card base to finish off the card.  A little bit of Wink of Stella clear glitter was used on the flower centers.

The colors of my card were inspired by the current TIME OUT Challenges from this pretty picture with the main colors of yellow, white and light blue and some green.

And I am also playing along here:

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - April Challenge

Hello and welcome to a new Crafty Wednesday challenge here on my blog! Before I get to the new theme, I wanted to thank you all for joining in last month, it was great seeing over 50 entries for the very first challenge and I hope you will all join in again this month. Be sure to scroll down to the end of this post to find out who the lucky winner from last month's entries was.

For the month of April the theme is............

Say it with flowers.

This means you have to use flowers and you have to use a sentiment. The flowers or sentiment do not have to be the focal point, but they do have to be easily visible on your project, they could be part of the papers, a stamp, die cut or other embellishments. I can't wait to see what you all come up with ... it's been so chilly over here and I know I am ready to see some flowers!!!!

I am sharing two cards today because I couldn't decide if I wanted to make a cute or non-cute card, so I made one of each.

The stamp platform came in really handy for this card using the new Penny Black slapstick stamp. (Stamp is available brand new in my Etsy shop if you're interested!) I used a mix of distress inks for coloring directly onto the stamp then spritzed with water before stamping to create a little bit of a watercolor look. An old stampin up script stamp was then used on the background for a little more interested, I used light blue ink for the script. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Sprinkles and Smiles . Embellished with a butterfly and tiny pearls, colored card stocks are both by Stampin Up, but I think both are retired colors.

Also sharing this card with these challenges:
Always Fun Challenges - Happy Birthday
Get Creative Challenges  No Pattern Paper
Incy Wincy Designs  - Nature and all of its Beauty
Star Stampz Challenge Throw on the Flowers
Crafty Catz -  Anything Goes this week
A Gem of a Challenge - Female Birthday with a Sentiment
Simon Says Wednesday - Happy Birthday

And below is my second card...

The stamp I used is by Penny Black - You're the Bestest but apparently it must have been retired because I can't find it in anywhere online to link to - not even ebay so I linked something similar with Amazon below!)

I heat embossed the image on Bristol Vellum card stock using my Tonic Stamp Platform again and Versafine onyx ink with clear embossing powder. Zig Clean Color real brush pens were used for coloring with a . (Mid Gray, Light Carmine, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Light Green, (very diluted: Blue). These are all part of the set I linked above or available at Blick Art Materials as singles.
Sentiment is from the Penny Black set Sweet Wishes, another set currently available in my Etsy shop. The pretty border above the sentiment is from a set by Victorine Originals - Borders and Plaids II . A little butterfly with pearls finishes off this simple card.

I am also sharing the second card here:
Use Your Stuff - Spring
Retro Rubber Challenge - Anything Goes (I've had the cat stamp for at least 2 years but stamp design is probably at least 5 years old)

Colouring in Scrapland - Anything Spring Goes
